- Get the scoring tool by clicking on the button above.
- Enter the name of each proposed service in the Service Name column.
- Grade the proposed service from 1 to 5 across each dimension.
- The sheet totals the scores and labels a service Viable only when
- Urgent & Expensive Problem ≥ 3
- If this scores 1-2, you're dead in the water. Clients won't pay premium prices for nice-to-have services.
- Repeatable Process ≥ 3
- A score of 1 means it's basically impossible to standardize. You'd be forcing square pegs into round holes.
- Resource Feasibility ≥ 3
- Scoring 1 here means you literally can't deliver it at scale, making the whole exercise pointless.
How to judge each score
Score |
Interpretation |
1 |
Deal‑breaker. Likely not going to build a productized offer here. |
2 |
Major friction. Expect heavy hand‑holding or razor‑thin margins. |
3 |
Solid baseline. Good enough if the rest of the model works. |
4 |
Strong fit. You will feel a pull from the market. |
5 |
Ideal scenario. Powder‑keg potential. |
A few suggestions for setting your scores:
- Benchmark first
- Rate a few existing offers you know well, to calibrate your gut.
- Get a second opinion
- Have a teammate or trusted (and informed!) friend score independently, then compare to expose bias.
- Revisit quarterly
- Markets shift, so a 4 today can slip to a 2 next year.
Subjective judgment will always create some noise, so treat the output as a decision aid rather than an oracle. Use it to spark conversation, but look for real customer feedback before committing resources.
